Aside from looking like the coolest Columbine shooter, Trimble creates really bizarre, dark synth-laden pyschedelic folk/pop. Shit'll sound like lo-fi Beatles on some tracks and then sound like R.E.M. via P.C.P. on others.

18 minutes of dark, haunting, psychedelic, dissonant instrumental hip-hop and electronica. Often hypnotic, often (somewhat) danceable. You should check this out solely for "The Crunch," one of the most massive beats I've heard in a while.

John Fahey & Cul de Sac - The Epiphany of Glenn Jones

In the midst of guitar legend John Fahey's 90's revival, he collaborated with the experimental post-rock group Cul de Sac to create this unknown gem. Fahey's signature folk style contorts and melds with the ethereal ambient textures of Cul de Sac. The results are grand psychedelic compositions that range from meditative soundscapes to raucous distorted noise improv. Oh and a lot of Nothing.

Living Torch - Black Bile

The latest free Living Torch release. As expected, it's amazing. This guy right here is one of the best active musicians in the ambient/folk game. It's ridiculous how little attention this shit gets, because Living Torch consistently releases shit that is easily better than its drone peers.

Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information

Probably the best album I've come across in the past few months, Inspiration Information is a damn-near flawless psychedelic soul album. However, it's much more than simply psychedelic soul. Otis melds together funk, r&b, soul, jazz, and psychedelic pop together effortlessly, and the results are fantastic. The instrumentation is immaculate as Otis shows off his multi-instrumental talents, and his songwriting is definitely up there with soul greats like Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield. Songs like "Strawberry Letter 23," "Aht Uh Mi Hed," and the title track display his prowess in crafting intelligent, catchy pop tunes with lush instrumentation while the album is peppered with relaxed instrumental compositions like "Rainy Day" and "Pling!" So kick back and chill to sum Shug.

Gary Higgins - Red Hash

Red Hash is a lo-fi psychedelic folk album by singer/songwriter Gary Higgins. The music found on this album sounds a lot like if Karl Blau and Six Organs of Admittance (Chasny cites Higgins as a huge influence) recorded an album together. Very few copies of the album were printed initially, as Higgins recorded the album knowing he was about to go to prison on drug charges. Because of the aformentioned Ben Chasny, however, Higgins is starting to enjoy some amount of acclaim.

I've put off listening to this band for as long as I can remember and I'm not quite sure why. This album is fucking awesome. If you've been living under a rock like me, this band sounds kind of like if Husker Du had some country-ish folk influence and was way more psychedelic and strange.

Awesome droney psychedlic folk. It basically sounds like a meeting point exactly between Six Organs of Admittance and Sun City Girls (bizarre tribal chanting included). Also, band name should make one want this.

Njiqahdda - Taegnuub: Ishnji Angma

Disregard the megahomo romance novel album art, this is some of the best atmospheric black metal out there. Njiqahdda combine shoegaze-ish noise, swirling psychedelia, and epic songwriting to create incredibly dense black metal. Also good if you like vox that sound like a constant stream of white noise.
